What would you do with 1 million dollars?

Money seems to be a huge topic these days. People are always talking about how little money people have and complain about the things they can't have. They dream up and create a list of things they would do/buy if they ever did win the lottery. Most of the time the list consist of buying expensive things: a house, car, tv, accessories, and travel.

If you think about it 1 million dollars really that much money... well it is but I mean in a sense that you shouldn't just quit your job and buy a bunch of stuff. If you chose that road, I'm pretty sure your money would be gone in 6 months. If I had the money I have 3 things I'd want to do with it:
1) Pay off my school loans
2) Pay off any medical debt I own (which is alot)
3) Buy a house

For me, money is not something I see as a big deal. I don't need money to make me happy. I don't need expensive things to get through life. I would save most of the money and the rest would go to other important things in my life, mainly being: my family and my school. I would turn to my family and help them out financially in any way I can. They've done so much for me through out my life, and I would love to repay the favor. Also, if I had the money I would donate my money to my school. Buy new books, toys, and supplies for all the classrooms. Replace the outside play structure, new paint, lights and any other maintenance things my school badly needs.

Call me crazy, but I'm being serious as I type this. Tell me all you want that "if you ever win, you will change your mind," because that wont happen. Even now, sitting in my bank account I have enough money to pay 5 months worth of rent, and all I can think about is other people who are struggling every month. My school in dire need of money to supply an adequate education for the kids. The homeless people living on the streets.

So I'm asking you. What you do?

One year anniversary

Yesterday after work there was a staff meeting. They started with announcing people who have had a year of service at the company and I'm proud to say I am one of them! They then presented me with this certificate:

It's hard to believe that I've been working at CCCC for that long. I look back and see how much has changed, and how much has stayed the same. How much I've grown as a teacher, and learned from my mistakes. With all the changes I know one thing that hasn't changed: the group of people I work with. The people there are amazing, nice and friendly. And most importantly they are flexible.

I am honored to have received this "award," and hope for many more years of service there!

What happened to March?

When I was at work, I took a look at my watch to check today's date and I was shocked to see that it is March 20th! I can't believe how fast this month has gone. My vacation I took only seems like it was a week ago.

It's amazing how fast the days go by. At work I'm constantly busy with the kids, working on projects, cleaning. And because I'm always on the go it feels that my days just kind of mesh together. I sometimes wish there was a pause button in life. I would be nice to be able to take a break so I can at least catch my breath. I mean I get breaks at work but even then, they don't always involve me sitting and relaxing

Unfortunately, life doesn't have a pause button. With that in mind I'm just going to live in the moment and enjoy life as much as possible. I feel that everyone should live by this rule: Cherish every moment.

Tomorrow is a new day

A wee bit Irish

Yesterday was a good day. Aside from celebrating St. Patrick's Day, I met up and hung out with an old friend of mine we went to school with. It was nice to reminisce about the good old days. We started off with seeing John Carter at Carmike and then tried Panera Bread for the first. It wasn't bad. I will have to try to try it again sometime when I have a bigger appetite. He later came to my house and watched movies until I got a phone call from my mom saying they were having their traditional green dinner. I knew it was an offer I couldn't pass up.

The food was delicious.

The delicious veggie tray Bailee made. Can you tell what it is?

So much green!

Shamrock cake made in the crockpot!

It may seem weird to have everything green, but growing up this was something I'm use to. My mom gets really festive when it comes to holidays so every year for St. Patrick's Day she would pack a green lunch for school. So many strange looks I got when I was eating it, but I didn't care. It still tasted the same to me.

What better way to end off a family get together then with a group picture. With some other ones in between.

Overall it was a good day. Later that night I kicked back watching more movies, while wearing my awesome socks I got from my mom!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Just another manic Monday

I really hate Mondays.

There is no logically reason for it except for having to return to work after a relaxed and non active weekend. This past weekend I spent a lot of playing Rockband 3 with Tyrel. My younger siblings even joined in a few songs when my grandparents came to visit.

On Sunday I had a visit with Christiane, had some delicious Mongolian Grill and then went to see the play Annie with my mom, sister, brother in-law, and the munchkins. It was really cute and they did a really good job with it!

Anyway, back to Mondays.... I think the main reason why I hate Mondays has to do with the fact that the kids at school are extra crazy on Mondays. I'm not really sure why this happens, my only guess is that they stayed cooped up inside their homes all weekend, to which this leads them to have extra energy. What makes Mondays even worse is when the weather is crappy and the kids are unable to go outside. Luckily today they were able to go outside for a little bit before the downpour came. Overall, today was just your typical crazy Monday. I've came to expect it every week, but all the same I still hate Mondays.

At least today I was able to come home to the delicious desert I made yesterday. A Jell-O no bake oreo desert:

Happy Monday :)

3 cheers to 21 years!

On Wednesday my little sister turned 21. I can't believe it's been that long. Considering it was on a week day, not very many people could make it. We started off at the traditional dinner at El Sol de Mexico!

Afterwards we did some bar hoping but of course being as how I had to get up early the next day, I didn't stay long.

Happy 21st Brandee!

A little piece of home

Little by little, Tyrel and I have been working on our apartment to make it more look like home. Ever since we bought our tv in November we've been wanting to buy a new entertainment center, having the tv being too big for it. So the tv has just been sitting on top of it. A little high for our taste but it's been working out ok.

Before:

But we just recently bought a new entertainment center. And with a little rearranging we managed to put it together!

Now:

Because of the reorganizing we did we were able to move our movie shelf next to the tv and even managed to put all of our movies on the shelf. (With Tyrel's fountain to add effect) Needless to say we will be watching more movies now :)

And to make the walls less bare we added a few pictures

The next thing all the list is to move the old entertainment center into the storage bin since we currently don't have any room for it in our apartment and be able to move the shelf in our dinning room to the living room. And of course since we have guest staying over on Sunday, we need to work on the spare bedroom. A lot more to be done, but it's nice to get some of it done to make it look more like home!

Home.

Tyrel and I are back home. Vacation was nice. Just the break that I needed. The weather was nice and we were able to actually walk along the beach. Before we did though we made a stop to the Oregon Coast Aquarium! Been a long time since I've been there. And because of the season, it wasn't too busy

Japanese spider crab- The worlds largest crab with a leg span of 13 feet. Put my phone against the glass to compare it to size

Afterwards we went to Rouge brewery for lunch and did a nice walk on the beach. Of course not everything went according to plan. Not sure if was from the hotel bed or all the walking around we did, but my low back is paying the price. Totally worth it

Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!

Vacation is oh so fine

Today was a good day. Woke up to snow on the ground and a bright sun shining in the sky. We left for the beach and on the way watched the weather change from cold and snowy, rain and then sunny.

So far the weather has been beautiful. Watched the sunset, relaxed in the hot tub and now sitting down enjoying a delicious glass of wine.

Please don't let this trip end!
