Easter part 2

The best part about being married is that you have the opportunity to have 2 of the same holiday! One is spent with my family and the other is spent with Tyrel's family. Well technically they are my family too but you get what I mean. Tyrel had to work during Easter weekend which meant no traveling outside of Corvallis. Luckily my parents live in Corvallis so we were able to spend Easter with my big family!

This past weekend was Tyrel's weekend off so Sunday we headed to Sweet Home to have an Easter dinner with his Granny. It was so nice to see his Granny. She has always been so loving and welcomed me as part of the family even before we were ever married. And now that we are married she is happy to say that "she finally has a granddaughter." I loved the seeing the smile on her face as she said that and it just made my heart melt!

Anyway, it was so nice to see her and his uncle. I haven't seem them since the wedding and the last holiday I spent with them was Easter a year ago! After eating we had the traditional egg hunt, but because it was raining Granny hid all the eggs inside the house. I will admit Granny is pretty good at hiding eggs because it took us a good 15 minutes to find all the eggs. And we even missed one but didn't realize it until we were leaving.

Easter weekend

The weekend went by way too fast! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Tyrel and I spent the day at my parents house where we feasted and played games. The food was delicious as always. There was so much food we are currently eating the leftovers in the fridge.

Anyway I don't have time write a big long post so here are some pictures to enjoy

Must have been my lucky day!
Family taking up the whole street!

Beach trip

After 8 months, Tyrel and I were able to take a trip to the beach!!! It was busy, a bit windy and absolutely beautiful. The first stop we made was at the Hatfield Marine Science Center. It was free admission and we happen to come on a day when there was a science fair going on so it was very busy! It was pretty cool. Lots of stuff to look at and play with and we watched them feed an octopus

We had so much fun playing with this thing :)

Afterwards we did our usual walk along the bayfront and lunch at Rouge and then ended the day walking on the beach. Did I mention it was very windy there? We couldn't stay that long because the wind was so strong!

Me and my crazy hair!

Overall good day and looking forward to many more beach trips in the future!

Temptation

I'm sure some of you saw my instagram/facebook status the other day involving a huge chocolate cake that sat on the table at work. A parent had brought it in as a thank you to us for a child that is moving this week.

This thing was huge and it sat there all day. As the day went on the cake started getting smaller and smaller. It taunted me, and it took every ounce of self control not to eat it! This was so hard to do. If you know me well, you would know that I of have a food addiction. I like to eat, A LOT. I use food for comfort as well as to cure boredom. When it comes to sweets my craving for food gets even worse! I use to binge it, which caused me to gain a lot of weight while in college. Up to this day I still have issues with binge eating and it is an everyday struggle for me. It's embarrassing, it's caused me to have low self esteem and low energy. Being a food addict has made it very difficult to lose weight these past years and it's just been one disappointment after another. But I will save this story for another day

Anyway, by the end of the day, the cake was gone! But instead of feeling bummed out of not getting a slice of delicious cake like I normally do, I felt a sense of pride in me. This was a huge accomplishment for me and it has only made me stronger. I went with the entire week of eating no candy, chocolate or sweets! I feel great knowing I'm gaining some of my self control back.

Happy Friday!
