Rainy adventures

Sometimes you just got to let kids be kids. I do all I can to try and avoid the kids getting muddy and wet from outside play, but when you live in a state that rains pretty much 90% of the time, this task is not possible. You walk out on the playground and there are puddles everywhere! Puddles are so inviting to kids they can't not help jumping right in. I'm glad that they where boots when they are outside, otherwise it would be a disaster but even then you can't prevent all muddy and wetness.

So I say, if you can't beat them, join them. I mean come on who wouldn't want to play in the mud? ;)

Happy Sunday everyone!

I'll take a salad... dressing on the side?

The picture is pretty self explanatory. I mean don't get me wrong skinny people look amazing and I would love to look skinny sometime in the near future, but there is a limit. Being too skinny where you don't have any muscle mass that I can see your bones. I feel that giving you hug will cause you to snap in half!

I've never classified myself as the small chick with the perfect body. I have curves. I have boobs, thighs, hips, and tummy to shape me into a perfect natural and normal human being. Yet, being the shape I am doesn't classify as "hot."

Well I'm here to try and change that and am curious if anyone else agrees with me:
I'm curvy and I'm proud of it!

The flood of 2012!

Oregon has always been notorious for the rain, but so much that it floods the entire city? Corvallis didn't have it nearly has bad as Albany or Salem but it was still pretty crazy. I posted up a bunch of pictures of different places in Corvallis

This picture shows the Crystal Lake Sport park... or what use to be the sports park. It is now fulfilling it's name as a "lake." Where all that water is, use to be a parking lot. and there was another path you could follow to get to the open grass field. These first pictures were taken at about 10am on Friday, January 20. I later went by there again that same day at 2pm and the water had gotten higher!

The good news is, the water level is finally going back down so sooner or later we will have our sports field (and off lease dog park during the off season) back! Which is good because I was a little concerned about all of this happening right across the street from me. I did some driving and took pictures of other places as well:

This is a picture of me standing on Lily street looking at 3rd. This part of 3rd street was closed off for quite some time due to the Mill Race flooding, but was later opened up on Friday.

This was taken by the skate along the water front. The river was up so high that the water flowed over the bike path!

I hope mother nature is done pouring the buckets of water on top of us. I will take the rain over flooding anyway! Stay dry everyone

Rain, Rain, and more rain!

What a crazy day it has been. After all of the melted snow and 24 hour downpour it has caused some major flooding in the city of Corvallis. It is so bad that work was closed today. I was a little bummed out but it was nice to catch up on the extra sleep. I wanted to see for myself how bad the damage was. As I drove down Conifer towards my work, the road was closed. So I parked my car and went on a walk.

Right now I am currently stuck in my apartment in south town because they have shut down 3rd street because of how high Mary's and Willamette river is. The only way for me to get to North Corvallis is by going the long way first going south on 99 and then turn at Junction City to head North on I-5.

I don't think I can make it to work tomorrow...

Sick...

Well I spent my whole weekend recovering from a ruptured cyst the doctor found on my overy. It started Thursday night when I felt pain in my lower stomach and then had a fever. I didn't go to work on Friday and went to the doctor. A pelvic exam, pain and blood work later I was sent to the hospital for an ultra sound for fear of appendicitis.

The ultra sound showed a normal appendix, and I was sent home with antibiotics in case of infection. 3 days later and I'm finally starting to feel better. All my blood work and lab results came back normal and the issue should resolve it's self.

Apparently ovarian cyst are very common and it's nothing I should be worried about. The pain I felt in my stomach was from it rupturing and then me feeling sick afterwards was my body fighting off the toxins that are released. It has no effect on the function of the ovaries (which is great news!)

Now back to work tomorrow. And as I'm saying this I get a text saying school is on a delay start. Yeah for snow days!

Just a picture

It's amazing how a simple picture can put me at such ease. All the stress just leaves my body. So beautiful

Joys of being a kid

I know I've said this many times but I can't get over the fact how much I love kids! They make me feel loved, they are smart, funny, and energetic, and they are so much fun to work with. And even though there are those days of anger, temper tantrums, poor listening and naughtiness, I can't help but love kids even more! In a sense, this makes me perfect for the job as a preschool teacher. I always feel that whenever I around kids, the child inside comes out and it gives me a chance to be a kid once again! I will admit there have been times where I've been caught enjoying a certain activity more then the kids are... but can you blame me??

Working with kids makes to me think back to when I was a kid. Life was so much easier. To make myself happy all I had to do was pick my favorite book, climb a tree or play in the mud. I have so many memories of just playing and being a kid, not having a care in the world. I loved going to school and playing with my friends. I could go on all day talking about what it's like being a kid, but I think you get the picture :)

Being an adult can suck sometimes, but I love the fact that when I'm at work I can once and awhile go back to being kid. Last week I asked the kids what they wanted to be when they grow up, and I love all the different types of answers I got. Kids have such wonderful imaginations. Dream big kids!

So far... so good?

So far 2012 has quite a lot to offer. Tyrel was fired from pizza hut on Thursday, rather unexpectedly, so that was kind of a shock. Luckily Tyrel has a side job of driving the taxi Sunday and Monday night so he's not completely unemployed. I wasn't really sure what to think at first. I'm still kind of in shock and am trying to stay positive about it. Working at pizza hut wasn't something Tyrel really enjoyed but he stayed with it because it was a job making money. He has been wanting to work at another job, so we consider this sudden unemployment a jump start to the job search.

In other news, I finally have closure to the case. She pleaded guilty to DUII and careless driving. Huge fines on her part, a year without a licenses, and community service will hopefully due her some good. I really hope she has learned her lesson from this and thinks before making a stupid decision like drinking and driving.

That's all I really have to say about the case. I'm happy and satisfied with the results of the case and am ready to move on with my life

Hello 2012

A recap of 2011:

January:
6 month anniversary with Tyrel. At the moment I was working in the infant/toddler room at Little Beavers. Celebrated my dad's 42nd birthday!

February
Had some snow days and Little Beavers shut down. I was a offered another teaching job at a different facility. I decided to take the job.

March
I worked my last day at Little Beavers and started my new job as a Pre-K teacher at Corvallis Community Children's Center. My sister turned 20. Probably the best part of this month was spending spring break in Florida with my family!

April
Kept myself busy trying to adjust to my new classroom. Spent lots of days at the park with my siblings and my dog. Spent Easter with my boyfriend and his family

May
My great-grandma passed away so I spent a weekend in La Grande for the funeral, but other then that, my life was pretty much consumed with work

June
Tyrel and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary together. My mom turned 42 and it was the beginning of summer which meant more outdoor activities.

July
I spent a lot of my time outside going on walks with Cuhna and hikes with Tyrel. 4th of July was a lot of fun as always. Had an unfortunate event happen to us, when Cuhna became paralyzed from the waist down. Took him to the vet and found out he had ruptured a disc in his spine. Spent extra time with him in hopes he recovered quickly

August
I started this month with our yearly trip to Wallowa Lake! Warm and beautiful the whole week we were there. Cuhna ended up going with us and even went on a boat ride with us! Unfortunately, Cuhna's condition didn't get any better. He was still paralyzed and we just couldn't see him like that... he was unhappy. He eventually had to put him down :(
To end on a happy note, we celebrated Tyrel's birthday going camping at the beach!

September
The lease in my apartment was up and Tyrel and I started our apartment search. About a week lately we found a place and later moved in. My little sister also turned 9 years old. One of the most exciting things that happened to me though was that I was in an accident. I was hit by an underage drunk driver. Luckly there were no serious injuries but I had to go to the doctor later which started the long recovery process. Swrewberry was this month also. I was bummed we were only able to spend the day there since Tyrel had to work though. And of course who could forget my 25th birthday! :)

October
During this month I was still recovering from my accident. Chiropractor and therapy appointments 3 times a week, still having some pain and headaches. The girl that hit me pleaded not guilty and lengthened the case which means court dates in the near future. For Halloween I carved a bunch of pumpkins and took my siblings trick or treating. Both of my brother's had birthdays this month. Once turned 3 and the other one 16.

November
My recovery process from the accident comes to a close as I went to my last chiropractor and therapy appointment! Had a good Thanksgiving with my family and Tyrel. This year for the first time ever I participated in black Friday and Tyrel and I bought a tv! Great way to end the holidays if you ask me :) Oh and the girl that hit me continues to fight the system and avoid her DUII charges. Wonderful

December
Went to zoo lights for the first time ever. Very cold but totally worth it! We decked out our apartment with Christmas stuff and got our first Christmas tree. The girl that hit me is deciding to plead guilty so we can finally close the case. Tyrel and I spent Chrsitmas in La Grande with my family. Unfortunately no snow this year. Tyrel got fired from pizza hut. Huge bummer. And then for New Years, I went out for the first time and went to a club with my friend!

So that's basically it. Some months full of more events then other. I will do a later post talking about what I would like to happen in 2012 and what to expect but for now I'm signing off

Happy new year!
