Slow down, stop... and breathe!

I work at a some what fast pace everyday. Working with kids has taught me to always think on my toes, multitask and smile. I come home needing to ice my foot everyday and then next morning I get up and do it all over again. I wouldn't change it for the world! However, working at a fast pace all the time can be quite stressfull and a lot of work. I start working and next thing I know it 3 hours has passed by and I havne't even had a chance to sit or eat something.

That's when I realized that sometimes it's good to slow down, stop, and take some deep breaths. And if you are lucky, you could do this all while enjoying a beautiful sunset!

Throwback

I was looking through some old pictures and came across the ones from my OSU graduation. These were taken back in June 2010

My announcement my mom made

Look how small Braylon was!!

It's weird looking at these pictures and think about everything that was going on. For me that day was life changing. I ended my 4 and 1/2 year relationship with a selfish abusive dick, I was living on my own and was starting a new job in just one week. This is where I decided to go back to being myself, back to being happy. This is where I met and got together (for the 2nd time) with my current fiance. This is where my new beginning started!

Vitamins and supplements

For the past couple of months I've been feeling really tired lately, very moody, and just flat out exhausted by the end of the day. All I've wanted to do is sleep and was having a hard time staying awake at work. My sleep doctor gave me some medication that is a stimulate to help me stay awake during the day. The medicine helps but there are side effects along with it. And I don't really want to have to depend on a drug to help me stay awake during the day. Plus it only last 8 hours. Enough to get me through the work day but doing anything after is always impossible, including trying to work out.

Lately I made an appointment with my primary doctor. Just a typical check up. I told him the things I was experiencing and he did some blood work. He found two things: my iron and vitamin d were very low. Now I've never been one of those people that takes a multi-vitamin everyday. Growing up I took Vitamin C to help my immune system. But even when I took it I was still sick. I stopped taking it after high school. After doing some research I'm starting to realize how important vitamins and other supplements are.

I first started with the iron. "Signs of low iron include extreme fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, irritability and headache" All things that I experience. Next I looked up vitamin D. "Vitamin D appears to have effects on immune function. It has been postulated to play a role in influenza with lack of vitamin D synthesis during the winter as one explanation for high rates of influenza infection during the winter." Vitamin D also has an effect on mood and sleep disturbances as well. I know people who suffer from severe depression because of low levels of vitamin D.

As I'm looking up all this information, I'm wondering if it's really that simply. Could these simple vitamins and supplements help me feel better? I figured it couldn't hurt to try. It's been about 3 weeks since I've started taking it and I can actually feel the difference. I have energy at work. I can make it through the day without needing to take my "wake up" medicine everyday. And the best part is at the end of the day I actually have enough energy to work out!

I'm going to stat taking advantage of vitamins now, knowing how much they do for you. I'm actually thinking about taking vitamin c again, considering I'm getting sick for the 3rd time this winter

A reveiw of 2012

As the year ends I like to look back on the previous year and review everything that has happened. It's fun to see all the things that may have changed and gives me a chance to look forward to the upcoming year

January:
Last year for New Years I spent it up in Portland with my best friend. We spent the whole night dancing at her favorite dance club. Which surprisingly is starting to turn into my favorite as well!

There was a day when we had snowfall in Corvallis. If I remember right, it only lasted for a day and then melted. For the next two days it poured pretty much non stop. The melting snow along with the inches of rain led to flooding all over Corvallis. Fortunately it didn't very long and only needed to close down the city for a day

Towards the end of the month I went back to Portland to for my friends birthday

Febrary:
Valentines Day was the day I "proposed" to Tyrel. Wasn't really anything special, just made a sign asking him to marry me. Didn't really make things official but it was more of way for me to know if he was interested in ever getting married

March:
My friend had a baby!!

I took some time off work and Tyrel and I took a spontaneous trip to the beach!

My sister turned 21

Last but not least St. Patrick's Day

April:
I spent lots of time with my family on Easter and took advantage of the nice weather and did some park adventures with my little siblings

I spent 6 hours of my Saturday in order to organize my classroom to make it functional!

May:
Enjoyed the great outdoors by going on hikes with Tyrel. I also spent a weekend up in La Grande to celebrate my Grandma's retirement!

June:
This is the month of Tyrel and I's anniversary. We spent the day the beach

The rest of the month I spent outside either at the park or going on hikes. My friend also came down and I got lots of baby cuddles!

July:
More hiking as well as swimming!!

A coworker of mine got married :)

And of course we can't forget the 4th of July!

August:
Wallowa Lake!!

September:
 Camping trip to Beachside

Renaissance fair and my birthday

October:
Braylon's birthday at the bounce house

Halloween
