Call it an obsession

Today I took the kids from my class over to the park. I've always enjoyed the park, it really brings out the kid in me. Sometimes it seems like I enjoy it more then the kids do. I love it!

When I was enjoying myself, I discovered something very interesting: A girl, maybe about 5 years old, wearing a cute outfit with wedged heels; and a binky in her mouth. When I saw this I had to do a double take, and then I opened my mouth to say something, but I came up speechless.

I was curious how anyone else felt about this. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was a binky child. But after a certain age, there needs to be a limit. 5 years old is a little old to be walking around with a binki is your mouth. I mean my sister was still in love with her binki at that age BUT she certainly didn't walk around with it. It was for bed time only.

There are some things I just don't understand

A little leap of faith

Yesterday I went to my parents' house to visit Cuhna. My poor little dog was injured somehow about a week ago. I ended up needing to take him to the emergency vet and was in a lot of pain. He was not doing very good and thought this was it and it was time to say goodbye.

Luckily Cuhna has made a miraculous recovery. We gave him medicine including steroids, pain killers, anti-inflammatories, and pepcid. He is still not able to use his back legs but he's not in as much as pain as he was when we first took him. He is actually quite the opposite and starting to go back to his normal self.

When I arrived at the house he actually took the effort to crawling out of his bed and greet me as enthusiastically as he could. He follows you around the house, not wanting to be alone in a room by himself. He barks when the door bell rings. And he's back to his usual eating pattern. The only thing that hasn't changed is the fact that he doesn't have control over his bladder, and we fear that he may not ever have control of it.

I took Cuhna outside, and he loved it. He scooted around the yard sniffing all the different smells. In the process of this he spotted some deer. His ears perked up and he started yelping. He wanted to chase those deer so bad and tried doing so like he use to do.

Curious how he would do if he was able to walk again, my mom created this make-shift sling to hold his back legs up. He started off slow, trying to get use to moving around again, and then he took off fast, chasing after Braylon like nothing had ever happened to him.

By the time we were done, I was almost out of breath because, since I was holding his back legs up, I needed to be able to keep up with him. I was happy to see that he was so motivated to get up and walk around. This gives me hope that even though he is unable to walk, we can at least get him a little wheelchair, so he can continue his life happy once again.

The truth about public play structure

I know I already posted this on my facebook, but I wanted to post it on here as well so that this video can become public and everyone can know what goes on in those play structures that your children play in.

I'm personally disgusted after watching this, but I wanted to get your opinion about it. How do you feel about this? Do you think there should be regulations for the structures to be cleaned?

Wordless Wednesday: Cuhna- one of the family

He may be a dog, but I consider him part of the family.

My poor baby... :(

My poor puppy...

My family was gone all weekend and I noticed my dog, Cuhna, hadn't been acting himself. But I figured he was just moping around because he was stuck at home. Didn't really think twice when his energy level went down, and we had to pick him up in order to get him to go outside. My sister took him to the river, he played outside, did all the things he normally does.

But on Monday, I went to pick him up to take him for a walk. He greeted me like he usually does, jumping on me and licking my face, raced me to the car and off we went to the dog park. We get there and start walking, and I notice his unusual slow pace. Usually I'm the one having a hard time keeping up with him, but for once he was having a hard time keeping up with me. He didn't do his normal greetings to the other people we passed by, and had no interest in other dogs, unlike his normal happy behavior of needing to say "hi" to everyone.

I cut my walk short, realizing that I had left my inhaler at home so I turned around. Our walk was a normal walking speed we always do, and a normal distance. But by the time we got to the car I was literally dragging him back to the car. Noticing a funny limp I picked him up and carried him back to the car. We get home, and all of his energy is gone and didn't even want to jump out of the car to greet the neighbor across the street, again not like him at all.

Figuring that he was just tired and missing the rest of the family, I brushed it off and went home. 15 minutes later I get a text message from my sister saying that Cuhna couldn't walk. He was not able to walk on his back legs at all and the more this continued the worse he got, so we took him to the vet.

The diagnosis:
He is paralyzed from the waist down.
The cause:
Unknown

As you can see, he is unable to walk on his back legs. He's on some meds so he's not in as much pain anymore, and last night he was willing to eat. There is some hope that he will get better, but a 50/50 chance that he will be able to walk again. I will keep you posted as the week carries on and he goes back to the vet for a follow up appointment. In the mean time I'm trying to remain positive about the whole situation :(

Frustrations...

Why is it that the one area I want to get rid of when losing weight (my stomach area) is the one area that STAYS?! I lose weight but still look the same. I don't feel different and am still not satisfied with how I look.

I've been working really hard to workout, eat healthy and no junk food for almost 3 weeks now. Guess it's time to increase the diet even more, which has been the hardest part because I have a really bad sweet tooth.

Must keep at it before I start seeing real results, but it's just so frustrating not seeing the difference on the scale. Any advice is welcomed.

Wordless Wednesday: Sunsets

I love sunsets. When ever the sun goes down I first look to see if there are any clouds, because clouds is what gives the sun that awesome effect, and then look to the west.
These are some of my favorite sunset pictures:
